They were supposed to be very accepting, however I felt like some of his parents actions were not very supportive of Tanner. However, they wouldn’t let Tanner be out and didn’t want him to have any Mormon friends in a predominantly Mormon town. Tanner’s family had moved to a very religious town in Utah from a very secular town in California two years before this book started because the mom was moving jobs. It seemed really unnecessary to the plot, and it wasn’t developed well at all. I also did not love that Autumn had a crush on Tanner. Because the first 85% pages were the book Tanner was writing, and any other sub-plots just wouldn’t really make sense in this story. I would normally critique the plot on a book like this because it had a) nothing but romantic angst between the two main characters b) insta love, but neither of these regular faults bothered me. The ending could have had a bit more closure, but it was satisfying and wrapped up the story nicely.
